AI in Legal ยท Engine Validated

Catch the gap between what was agreed and what was filed or billed.

We're extending the same reconciliation engine we validated in healthcare billing to legal agreements, filings, and invoicing โ€” comparing signed terms against what actually gets executed.

The problem

Contracts, filings, and invoices drift apart โ€” quietly.

A retainer agreement sets a rate; an invoice bills a different one. A contract sets a filing deadline; the actual filing slips past it. An amendment gets discussed by email but never makes it into the executed document. Each gap is small on its own โ€” reviewed by hand, one document at a time, they're easy to miss.

Zorvaine's engine reads the governing document and the downstream record, and surfaces exactly where they disagree.

Concept mockup โ€” not a live product
Retainer clause: $250/hr capโœ“ Confirmed
Invoice line billed at $310/hrโš‘ Exceeds agreed rate
Filing deadline: 30 days per contractโœ“ Confirmed
Amendment referenced in email onlyโš‘ Not in filed contract

How it would work

The same three-step loop we validated in healthcare.

STEP 01

Ingest the pair

The governing document โ€” a contract, retainer, or engagement letter โ€” and its downstream record: an invoice, filing, or amendment.

STEP 02

Compare & flag

The model checks terms, rates, deadlines, and clauses against what was actually billed or filed, flagging mismatches.

STEP 03

Attorney review

Every flag goes to a licensed attorney or paralegal to confirm. Zorvaine does not give legal advice or make filing decisions.

Where this stands today

Same engine, validated โ€” now scoping legal.

We want to be upfront: AI in Legal is a roadmap item, not something you can pilot yet. What exists today is the detection approach itself, already validated in our RCM product โ€” 94.0% precision on a comparable "does the record match the source of truth" task. We're now scoping what it takes to apply that to legal document pairs.

Real legal-domain rules โ€” contract interpretation, jurisdiction-specific filing requirements, billing guidelines โ€” are not yet built. Nothing here should be read as legal advice or a finished product.
  • Firms billing against fixed-fee or capped-rate agreements
  • In-house legal/legal ops teams reconciling contracts against invoices from outside counsel
  • Teams that need filing deadlines and amendments checked against the executed contract
Who this is being designed for

Law firms and legal ops teams reconciling documents by hand.

If your team already spends time manually cross-checking contracts against invoices or filings, we'd like to talk to you while we design this โ€” your workflow is exactly what will shape the product.
